Beauvatiertrained by Yann Barberot, was the first of the French starters to take to the Ascot track during the Sprint Stakes where he made us dream. The son of Lope de Vega finally finished in fourth place behind the 3 year old Kind of Blue, driven by James Fanshawe for Wathnan Racing, Swingalong et Flora of Bermuda. While we had the impression that he did not have the passage in the final phase, his jockey Alexis Pouchin explained in a pertinent manner: “I found myself behind the winner and then I am between the three and I can come a little to the right and left of James (Doyle, in the winner’s saddle). Now, when I ask him for the last effort he must make, he slowly begins to break down. People think I’m locked up, but that’s not really the case.” At any rate, Beauvatier once again delivered a great performance at the highest level and his coach summed up: “In each race he progressed, demonstrating that he had the level of the best. We’re just missing the win, which is a shame, but there’s no reason why he can’t improve again next year. In his physique, he will further evolve and he will win his group I. He is easy, he has a good mentality, he is a real racehorse. We’re going to leave it alone now during the winter and make a comeback in the spring.”
