An animated tale by Jim Henson

A new kind of tale comes to life in the exhibition hall at Place des Arts. After a screening at the Venice Film Festival last year, Jim Henson’s The Storyteller: The Seven Ravens makes its North American premiere in Montreal. This immersive experience created by Montreal studios Félix & Paul is presented in partnership with Phi. On site, each visitor is given a book with blank pages. Thanks to augmented reality glasses, the story comes alive as you turn the pages. Narrated by actor James Hyndman, the tale follows young Emma, whose seven brothers, victims of bad luck, were transformed into crows on the day of her birth. At the dawn of adolescence, she undertakes a long journey through blazing fields, a burning desert and a stormy ocean to restore them to their original form. Free, but reservations are required.

From October 15, 2024 to February 23, 2025

Anne Dorval and Steve Gagnon play the two lovers Maria Casarès and Albert Camus.

I’m writing to you in the middle of a beautiful storm

The Théâtre du Nouveau Monde once again welcomes one of its most delicate productions from last season: I’m writing to you in the middle of a beautiful storm. The play revolves around the epistolary love story which united the French author Albert Camus (Steve Gagnon) and the Spanish actress Maria Casarès (stunning Anne Dorval). These two sacred monsters loved each other for 15 years. A moving piece due to the sublime beauty of the narrative (Dany Boudreault signs the adaptation). To the direction, Maxime Carbonneau adds several strong images that stick to our retina for a long time. A magnificent spectacle.

At the TNM, from October 22 to 27, then on tour in seven cities in Quebec

The play This hill is never truly silent has a cast of four performers.

This hill is never truly silent

Only three evenings left to attend one of the most disturbing shows of last season, repeated this year at the Théâtre Prospero. Gabriel Charlebois-Plante pens the text and the direction of this rereading of the myth of Sisyphus. Here, four beings are stuck in an infinite circle of starting over, overwhelmed as they are by the incalculable tasks to accomplish. The outside world? He only appears to them through their bedroom window. A barely distorting mirror that gives us an absurd or downright crazy image of our sometimes insane lives. Until Saturday October 19.

Maude dares

Maude Audet at the Golden Lion

Last opportunity this Thursday to attend the very beautiful show by Maude Audet in Montreal, We have to leave nowwhose tour is almost over. To see the singer-songwriter on stage is to enter a soft and enveloping world, where each element of the scenography is carefully considered. The singer with a certain charisma sketches dance movements which add to the warm atmosphere by giving it a theatrical aura, and the whole perfectly supports a slightly retro, poetic and luminous folk-pop repertoire. To stock up on beauty, this is where you need to be.
