Louis T is not an alpha male. He agrees.

“If you make the list of alpha males in Quebec, I come after Mariana Mazza,” he joked, Wednesday evening, during its Montreal premiere, presented at the Jean-Duceppe Theater at Place des Arts .

With a prescription from his doctor to hold his cell phone with both hands and vision of -9.75 in each eye – “When I take off my glasses, I see into the past. I take off my glasses: Northvolt is still going well.” –, the young forty-year-old, whose digestion is at the end of his life, presented his new show there, Alpha Male.

A show which, under its big Homeric coating, sometimes even very silly, hides a committed and engaging subject, well balanced, in particular on masculinity, inequalities and openness to others.

He notably addresses his fascination with old fathers, like Al Pacino or René Angélil, marginalized people like the ugly, the fat and the boomers, who, according to him, should replace lesbians, gays and bisexuals in the acronym LGBTQ , and his love for separated fathers.

“If my girlfriend leaves me, I’m not getting another girlfriend, I’m moving with a separated father: 30% salary increase right there, I’ve done nothing. The weekend we have the kids: arcade, paintball, go-kart! When we don’t have the kids: arcade, paintball, go-kart!” he said, laughing.

The comedian describes himself as a modern man who lives well with the evolution and progress of society, even if he doesn’t care about the debate on mixed toilets, being against public toilets in general. “I think that when you want to shit, it’s time to go home, it’s called ‘savoir-vivre’,” he said, sparking laughter in the room.

“I worry about men because it’s not easy being a man. Men are a bit like disco: peak was in the 1970s and it will not come back,” he also said, agreeing that life was made difficult for men, but dangerous for women.

Louis T was good on Wednesday night, interacting with his audience, occasionally probing them and adapting to their reactions. Nor did he allow himself to be disturbed by a ringing telephone, forcing a momentary departure from his schedule.

Comedian Jessica Chartrand was responsible for warming up the room.

Louis T will stop at the Théâtre Palace Arvida and the Grand Théâtre de Québec on October 22 and 23. He will continue his tour throughout Quebec at least until September 2025.
