“We admire you, we believe you”
Last January, Belgian comedian Florence Mendez broke her silence by revealing on Instagram that she had received testimonies from 31 women denouncing the behavior of the 38-year-old stand-upper.
This Monday, Florence Mendez showed her support for Tania Dutel in a message posted under the comedian’s publication: “Girl. We love you, we admire you, we believe you. WE’RE HERE”.
At the beginning of March, eleven women testified to Télérama magazine about actions committed between 2010 and 2022 by Seb Mellia. Some accuse him of sexual assault or rape. Among these women, three of them are also comedians and the other eight are spectators of his one-man shows.
Seb Mellia denied the accusations
Seb Mellia denied these accusations and affirmed – through his lawyer – “that he had never heard of any suffering or any grievance on the part of a partner, and even less of an accusation of rape or any other criminal conduct.”
On Instagram at the end of January, the comedian said he was “shocked and devastated” by the accusations against him and denounced a “manhunt”. He nevertheless apologized for having “may have offended some of (his) partners in the past, and without meaning to do so through inappropriate behavior”.
