A final tribute to cinema: Michel Blanc is preparing to move us one last time with two new films

The inimitable Michel Blanc has not yet bowed out in the cinema! Although he disappeared on the night of October 3 to 4, 2024, the actor will still shine on the big screen with two new films. An unexpected return for fans, who will be able to find him in very different registers.

Although Michel Blanc passed away at the beginning of October at the age of 72, he continues to live on through cinema. The actor, as brilliant in comedy as in drama, will still be starring in two new films in 2025. A final bow for an exceptional career, marked by nearly 80 films and characters that have become iconic.

Return to comedy with “Le routard”

The first film, entitled “Le routard”, is a comedy directed by Philippe Mechelen, known for his work on “Les Tuche”. Scheduled for release next April, the film tells the adventures of a young man sent to Morocco to write a Backpacker’s Guide. Although the exact role of Michel Blanc is still unknown, he will share the bill with Christian Clavier. This meeting of the two actors is particularly awaited, because they had not played together since “Les Bronzés 3” in 2006, 18 years ago, with the entire Splendid troupe.

Fans of Jean-Claude Dusse and his improbable haircuts undoubtedly remember these cult moments. And inevitably, this new comedy, “The Backpacker”, will have a particular taste, the director was delighted to show the film to Michel

A shocking role in “The cache”

The second posthumous film, “La cache”, promises to be more dramatic. Directed by Lionel Baier, this feature film takes place during the events of May 68. Michel Blanc plays a grandfather who hides his 10-year-old grandson at home during the student revolutions. This film, currently in post-production, promises a moving performance from the actor. The first images already suggest a strong role, in which Michel Blanc seems very touching.

Lionel Baier, moved by the disappearance of Michel Blanc, paid tribute to the actor in a column published in Libération, calling him a “lord” of French cinema: “Sir Michel, whom the public had ennobled in film after film”. The director remembers a man who was always in a good mood, who never lost his temper, even when a fan insisted on having an autograph as he left the studio.

An unforgettable 50-year career

Michel Blanc, who continued to film until recent years, had nearly 80 films to his credit. In 2020, he made an impression in “Les Tuche 4”, where he played Jean-Yves, the brother-in-law of Jean-Paul Rouve’s character. His career, which spans five decades, will remain engraved in the memory of French cinema.
