The quilted coat
Light as a feather, this fine down jacket slips easily under a woolen sheet, a jacket, a leather jacket and extends the life of any mid-season outfit. Proof with the Hermès house, which uses the onion technique to warm up bomber jackets. But to give this pragmatic coat a twist, it now features animal prints. And with its stitching in the shape of hearts, circles or even diamonds, the winter basic is ever more desirable.
The leather coat
Because the 2000s always inspire designers, it’s impossible to ignore the leather coat or its faux-leather neighbor. More economical, the latter manages very well to imitate the codes of chic. In the fashion shows, the Prada house offers a mid-length model, with large buttons in a vintage spirit. Marine Serre offers a worn-looking model, stamped with her legendary crescent moon. If young people continue to cover themselves in the dad fit version (i.e. a loose jacket), the coat also works in a long and fitted version, promising to embellish our outfit.
Le manteau Workwear
Clearly, utility clothing still has a bright future ahead of it. From the point of view of the creators to begin with, who, for our comfort, thought of adding quilting inside the jacket. From the brands Carhartt to Marine Serre, including Sandro, the work jacket is doubled with comforting padding, perfect for facing the cold weather of winter. And if not, the cut is wide enough to accommodate a featherweight down jacket. To adopt it, all you have to do is take inspiration from the fashionistas in the streets. They divert its boyish side with pencil skirts and pants cut close to the body.
The scarf coat
It took a few winters to see this forgotten coat resurface, on the streets and in the fashion shows. Already in 2023, the Scandinavian brand Totême created a buzz by reissuing this two-in-one garment. Today, it is in the fall-winter 2024 collections of Alberta Ferretti, Cos and Ujoh that the piece stands out. Same story in our low-cost stores which offer it in short versions and even in raincoats. Its functional side is surely the reason for its success. Its cut, less bulky than a cape, adapts easily to everyday life. As for its sometimes removable accessory, it protects the neck with the class of the great ladies of yesteryear.
The fluffy coat
Even if they are synthetic, these new materials warm us, for the good of our appearance and for that of the animals. Curly, long-haired or short-haired, faux fur is developing in all forms this season. But what changes from previous years is the omnipresence of classic shades on the catwalks. Luxury houses like Stella McCartney, Carven and Max Mara have abandoned the neon colors of our childhood for black, gray, pinkish beige and white. So many models who will dress us with chic without pretending to be a Disney character.
