One of the best-known faces of the big screen was in Lausanne in September 2024. M6 presenter Cristina Cordula sat in the middle of the shelves of the Manor store to present her new makeup line. A way to broaden your palette that started with makeover advice. At a time when injunctions are condemned, where the freedom to act, think and dress is an everyday battle, why is Cristina Cordula so popular? She answers us:

“I am neither the police nor the absolute truth! If people want to show off but don’t know how, I’m here to help them. But if the person is happy as they are, that’s so much the better.”

The makeover queen

“Be as I want” seems to be Cristina Cordula’s mantra. Born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1964, she studied journalism and communications then began modeling. The beginnings were difficult, but her career took off when she cut her hair. The “Latin Jean Seberg”, as she is called Le Figarowalks the catwalks of major houses. She even became the face of perfume, the fragrance imagined by Yves Saint Laurent in 1983.

The birth of her son Enzo in 1994 distracted her from fashion shows and the world of haute couture. In 2002, she discovered the commercial potential of makeover advice in the United States. Her looks, her Latinity, her je ne sais quoi of impertinence, her business sense made the difference and in 2004, she was hired for a TV concept, New look for a new life on M6. The show hits the mark. Who wants to dress like a sack and cover themselves in colors that don’t suit the complexion while the Brazilian, between singing accents and loud bursts of laughter, teaches us to feel better in our bodies and our skin. She tackles sometimes, with an ounce of nastiness that the public appreciates. A little trash in reality TV doesn’t hurt…

The star publishes in the wake of the books All women are beautiful (2008), Makeover guide (2010), The 50 golden rules of makeover (2010), all three published by Éditions Larousse. Ten years ago, M6 entrusted him with the controls of a new program, Hand sewn. Cristina Cordula’s cathodic career has been going on for twenty years, with ups and downs, her shows having been canceled, including The queens of shopping in 2022. Her popularity on social networks is not running out of steam, however, she is followed by 5 million people. The former model bounced back this year by participating in the thirteenth season of Dancing with the stars and launched a makeup line. The businesswoman named her brand after her emblematic expression: “Magnifaïk”.

Brazil in the spotlight in its beauty brand

In her vegan compositions, she honors Brazilian ingredients such as acai, acerola or mango butter. So many clean formulas, which the Yuka application rates between 80 and 100%. Always in a sustainable spirit, the range offers lipstick tubes that can be refilled in no time. Its website provides information on how to recycle each product.

“After twenty years in the profession, I wanted new horizons, freshness and also to put myself in danger,” she says. Makeup is just an extension of my work.”

“Whether it’s my shows, my agency, or my books, there’s always been a chapter on makeup.”

The creation of his new line is a new adventure. “Making a line of clean, vegan cosmetics with a beautiful texture and which provides care is very difficult. It’s about formulas, so you have to go through all kinds of tests. The same goes for finding the right pigments. Developing the lipstick took me almost two years. I am very demanding. As long as the product does not meet my expectations 100%, I will not launch it. That’s why I don’t have a lot of products.” Not many products, but bestsellers, such as the complexion enhancer which, according to her, blurs, smoothes and gives radiance.

The sixty-year-old (October 30, 2024!), who has had dual Franco-Brazilian nationality since 2018, never stops (re)hopping, between continents, activities, adversities, screens.
