Almost no more expenses

Owner of a $90,000 plot of land that was almost completely repaid, Marie only had to pay $7,000 for a tiny house on Marketplace. This strategy reduced the monthly expenses of the former tenant who paid $1,300 per month for her rent.

“My biggest expense [mensuelle]this is my $160 Starling. Otherwise, I pay for my groceries, wood, things like that, but that’s all,” says Marie.

She estimates her total expenses at around $1,000 per month when she takes into consideration her groceries, car insurance and the propane and gasoline she uses to get to the village grocery store.

Free from the stress of the city

Marie says she feels much better since living in this house and much less anxious than when she lived in Mile End, in Montreal.

“I really have a strong anchor, there is something very healthy even at the level of physical and mental health,” she mentions.

Marie is now preparing to spend her first winter in the heart of nature. She feels ready since she was able to count on the help of her neighbors.

“I have really good neighbors. They helped me prepare […] I have corded some wood and I am going to install a propane stove because there is no wired connection,” explains the woman who lives without any service.
