“You have been selected to be one of the eight candidates,” announces Luka Celik, this Thursday, May 2, 2024. “Ok! (white) Is it true? That’s great ! », enthuses Théo on the other end of the phone.
The 20-year-old young man from Saint-Aubin-le-Cauf is one of eight candidates selected to participate in the Dieppe Urban Challenge. This competition initiated by the Youth Center of Neuville-lès-Dieppe (Seine-Maritime) will highlight local rap and slam talents.
21 applications received
And for a first edition, it has already met with great success. “We received 21 applications from men and women aged 14 to 76,” explains delightedly Sandrine Henrydirector of the Youth Center.
With Simon Gossetfacilitator of workshops around music and writing, Luka Celik young self-entrepreneur in video from Neuville and Gilbert Rault, actor and theater teacher, they had the difficult task of selecting eight. A mission that was carried out with great kindness.
For the 13 people not selected, this does not mean the end of the adventure. “They can join our workshops with Simon,” explains Gilbert Rault. Workshops where they will work on their voice, their posture… to, why not, reapply next year.
Voting opens on May 16, 2024
The eight selected candidates were therefore notified one by one. They are Antony, 19 years old, Aurélien, 27 years old, Larissa, 25 years old, Seydou, 18 years old and Paul, 22 years old from Dieppe, Théo H., 18 years old from Saint-Nicolas-d’Aliermont, Thomas, 30 years old, from Ancourt, and finally Théo L., 20 years old from Saint-Aubin-le-Cauf.
From now on, Luka Celik goes to meet each of them to film them and make a video. He follows them step by step in this first of three stages of the Dieppe Urban Challenge.
These eight candidates will record one of their pieces in the semi-professional studio installed in the basement of the Youth Center.
The titles will be submitted to a public vote on social networks.
“The first episode will be online on May 16. The public will have five days to vote. The two candidates with the fewest votes will be eliminated,” underlines Luka Celik. See you on May 16.
