Xi Jinping’s visit to France: gastronomic menu, distinguished guests… the state dinner at the Elysée in pictures as if you were there

As he did for the visit of King Charles III, Emmanuel Macron invited the President of China Xi Jinping to a state dinner at the Elysée on Monday evening. Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan were guests of Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron. The two couples posed for the many photographers.

On the menu for the state dinner; crab meat and caviar as a starter, Bresse chicken supreme with baby spinach as a main course, galosh with thyme and small sprouts, and spring strawberries and crunchy meringue for dessert.

Many guests had been invited by the Elysée: the singer Mireille Mathieu, the actress Sophie Marceau, the Chinese actress Gong Li, the director Luc Besson, the musician Jean-Michel Jarre.

Chinese artists had also received an invitation: the Chinese actress Gong Li and the Chinese pianist Lang Lang.

Economic circles were present including the president of LVMH Bernard Arnault, the businessman François Pinault and his actress wife Salma Hayek, the general director of Renault Luca De Meo, the president and former CEO of L’Oréal Jean-Paul Agon or the general director of Air France Benjamin Smih.

Several French politicians were among the guests, such as Jean-Pierre Raffarin – a great admirer of China – and Jack Lang and his wife Monique.

Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan continue their state visit this Tuesday and will have lunch with the Macron couple at the Col du Tourmalet in the Hautes-Pyrénées.
