Let children breathe instead of overprotecting them

The little one is barely standing at the top of the small slide (one meter high) when her mother immediately tells her to sit down. Always on the lookout, this mother never relaxes her vigilance. At almost 4 years old, the child does not have much opportunity to explore his environment without his mother getting involved.

Compared to child kings to whom every whim is indulged, helicopter parents are hardly better. It is completely understandable to protect your child but you have to find a happy medium. Especially since technology makes it possible to give a greater sense of control to these overprotective parents by tracking their movements. It’s enough to drive you crazy.

This may come from a good feeling, but the child’s self-confidence takes a hit. We must not forget that it is part of life to get injured. It is not a question of encouraging stupidity or encouraging people to put themselves in dangerous situations, but let the children run, breathe and live. They may get hurt or be frightened, but their survival instinct will make them understand that this situation must not be repeated. If we want them to become independent, let’s not lock them in a golden cage. Besides, don’t they say that the best way to learn is to try?
