Sean “Diddy” Combs’ attorney says his client won’t accept a plea deal.
When asked if the disgraced rapper, 54, would make a deal, his lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, said he thought it was unlikely.
“It’s not up to me. It’s up to Mr. Combs,” he told TMZ on the show The Downfall of Diddy : The Indictmentbefore adding: “and I don’t see how that could happen because he believes he’s innocent. Furthermore, he believes he must fight not only for himself, but also for his family and for all those who have been targeted by the federal government.”
Sean “Diddy” Combs was recently incarcerated at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center, where he is awaiting trial on charges of sexual trafficking and extortion.
On Monday, the rapper’s lawyers filed a new appeal request following the judge’s decision to keep him in prison pending trial.
Judge Andrew L. Carter previously ruled that the rapper could not be placed under house arrest in his Florida mansion with GPS monitoring. He said the hip hop mogul’s bail offer, although in the amount of $50 million, was “insufficient” to keep the community safe. He added that “no condition or set of conditions” could protect against the risk of him threatening or harming witnesses.
Sean “Diddy” Combs will appear in court again on October 9.
