Toulouse becomes the scene of unique musical moments this month of October, with three festivals which will delight lovers of all kinds of sounds. From the living heritage of Toulouse organs to the challenges posed to artificial intelligence by Jean-François Zygel, through the electro effervescence of Mecanik Paradize, each event offers a very different, but equally captivating, experience.

From October 2 to 13, the 29th edition of the “Toulouse les Orgues” festival makes the city vibrate to the sound of the ancient instrument. Recognized internationally, this event brings together organists from Japan, China, the United States, Canada and Europe, who will perform in 11 heritage sites in Toulouse and its region. This year, the festival honors the duowith new musical associations: organ and saxophone, cello, harp, viola da gamba and even alphorn.

The 2024 edition does not just honor tradition, it also gives pride of place to creation. A duo of virtuoso organists, Isabelle Demers and Yuan Shenwill open the festival and offer you a new transcription of the Planets by Gustav Holst, made for the organ of the Basilica of Saint-Sernin. This work has inspired many composers, such as John Williams in Star Wars, to the progressive rock groups of the 70s. The opening concert will be held Wednesday October 2 at 8 p.m.

A comic concert combining live drawing and musical improvisation will be held on Saturday October 5 at 9 p.m. at the Notre-Dame de la Daurade Basilica.

The International Organ Competition, bringing together 12 young candidates, will crown this unmissable event.

The October 24 at the Halle aux Grains, Jean-François Zygel offers a unique fantasy concert. Titled Artificial Intelligence versus Artistic Imagination, this unusual encounter between man and machine promises to push the boundaries of creativity. In the company of the Orchester national du Capitole, Zygel invites you to a daring experience where technological rigor rubs shoulders with improvisation. The opportunity to question our relationship to art, innovation and the place of humans in this digital world.
