This Monday, April 29, actor Gérard Depardieu was placed in police custody. At the end, he received a summons from the Paris criminal court. The French actor will be judged in October next for acts of sexual assault that occurred on two women during the filming of the film “The green shutters“, in 2021. During this custody, the accused and his complainants confronted each other.
Already indicted for rape, the French cinema star could be incarcerated if he is found guilty. Indeed, article 222-27 of the French Penal Code provides that “sexual assault other than rape“are punished with a maximum penalty of”five years of imprisonment and a fine of 75,000 euros“. In the event of aggravating circumstances, this maximum penalty can be increased to 7 years of imprisonment and a fine of 100,000 euros. As a reminder, around twenty women denounced the actor’s behaviorin court or in the press.
