Saturday September 28 from 3 p.m. at the Astrolabe, the Chœur de Figeac offers an exceptional performance which could be the highlight of its tenth season. Indeed, created in August 2014 by the charismatic choir director and musical director Peter Nowfèl, already well known as director of the Harmonie des Artisans Réunis de Figeac, this ensemble quickly made its mark and acquired over the years , a great notoriety, the result of an undeniable talent. The Choir was followed in 2012 by the more classical chamber orchestra, Camérata de Figeac, then by the vocal ensemble “Figeac voix”, in 2017.
Peter Nowfèl, a Londoner with a passion for music, has made people happy by transmitting his passion not only to his musicians and singers but also to an increasingly large audience. Navigating through styles and centuries, each season it offers an increasingly eclectic and varied repertoire, always in search of perfection, requiring real investment from each of its musicians and choristers. The enthusiastic applause of the audience during concerts is their greatest reward and contributes to the unanimous recognition of their director. The choristers and musicians were filmed throughout the last season by a team of scenographers who endeavored to write in images, a story of this choir through its rehearsals, its concerts and the small moments of life of a choir, in including the musicians who accompany them in concerts.
This film will be presented as part of this performance and will be preceded by a Franco-English concert with works by composers as different as Mélanie Bonis, Karl Jenkins, Gabriel Faurè, Allan Bullard and John Stainer. This musical afternoon will end with a snack-dinner, in partnership with the Fermes de Figeac Cooperative, which will allow musicians and choristers to share a moment of conviviality and exchange with their audience.
