The organizers of the 77th Cannes Film Festival announced this Monday the composition of the jury, which includes Omar Sy, one of the faces of French cinema in the world.

Four men and four women will officiate under the presidency of director Greta Gerwig for the 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival.

President Greta Gerwig will have on her jury the French actor Omar Sy, 46, who is crossing a
new step in an exceptional career, from his first steps in schoolboy humor (“Omar and Fred”) to his early career in Hollywood, as an actor and producer. Going through his popular successes in France (Untouchables).

The actor, who will debate with the other members of the jury to decide between the 22 films in competition, should cause a sensation on the red carpet: he is both one of the favorite personalities of the French and a popular performer around the world, notably since the success of the Netflix series Lupine.

At her side will sit the French actress Eva Green, 43, known as well for her roles in France (most recently that of Milady in LThe Three Musketeers) than in Hollywood, with Tim Burton in particular, or alongside Daniel Craig in the James Bond films.

A year after walking the red carpet for Killers of the Flower Moon by Martin Scorsese, a role for which she was nominated for an Oscar, actress Lily Gladstone, from a Native American background, also joins the jury, of which she is the youngest at 37 years old.

Added to this list is the Italian actor Pierfrancesco Favino (The traitor), 54 years old, Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-Eda, 61 years old, Palme d’Or in 2018 for A family matterthe Spanish filmmaker Juan Antonio Bayona (The circle of snowreleased in France on Netflix), 48 years old, the Lebanese director Nadine Labaki, 50 years old, and the Turkish screenwriter and photographer Ebru Ceylan, 48 years old.

With its entire jury, its 22 films in competition to succeed Anatomy of a fall by Justine Triet, Palme d’Or in 2023, and more than a hundred films announced, including in the parallel selections, the great world cinema festival is now ready to open.

The start will be given on the evening of May 14 with the opening ceremony, presented by Camille Cottin, and the screening of Quentin Dupieux’s latest comedy, with Léa Seydoux, Vincent Lindon and Louis Garrel, The Second Act, which is released in same time in the room.
