It has become an annual tradition: the largest chew in the world organized by the LOU Rugby club at the Gerland stadium (7th arrondissement) in Lyon returns for a new edition in 2024. The date is known: this immense Lyon meal will be organized on June 1, 2024.

This year again, for the ticket office open at 12 p.m. this Friday April 26, 2024, the 1,500 places were gone in just a few minutes. The event is already sold out for its fifth edition.

“This friendly and festive moment pays homage to the machon, an ancient tradition of the morning meal formerly served to canuts, silk workers, based on local specialties,” explain the organizers.

Four renowned chefs for the menu

The Grand Machon menus are created by four great Lyon chefs this year. Emmanuel Augnagneur (Brasserie du LOU) and Claude Barbet (Bamboche Academy) will be accompanied in the kitchen by Meilleurs Ouvriers de , Olivier Couvin, Christian Têtedoie, Gilles Reinhardt and Jean-Paul Pignol.

On the menu this time: zander and lobster quenelle, champagne sauce, from Olivier Couvin and Gilles Rheinardt, followed by chicken in vinegar, from Christian Têtedoie, from Saint-Marcellin, Mère Richard in cheese and Scottish tart, from Jean- Paul Pignol, for dessert.

For charities

The menu which is served from 9 a.m. (this is the particularity of the Machon Lyonnais) was offered at 32 euros per person.

In addition to its festive and friendly nature, the event is a charitable event. All profits from this event will be donated to the Docteur Clown and 111 des arts associations.
