Festival Première: “Angelo in the mysterious forest”

Angelo, 10 years old, dreams of being an adventurer and explorer. Until the day when, leaving by car with his family to go to the bedside of his beloved Grandma who is very ill, he is suddenly challenged: forgotten on a motorway service station, Angelo decides to cut through the forest to reach Grandma’s house.

Show. At 30, Djamil realizes that he really only has one desire: to make people laugh on stage. He feels ready to start in comedy and today puts all his energy into imposing his style and vision. To find his role models, there is no need to look among comedians. He draws his inspiration from James Brown, Jacques Brel, or Freddie Mercury, stage beasts that he admires for their ability to set rooms and stadiums alight.

Opera: “The Force of Destiny”

Show. In this story of bitter vengeance pursued over many years, the opera by Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901) already carries its main theme in its title. A production that marks the arrival of conductor Roderick Cox as musical director, and sees the return to Montpellier of director Yannis Kokkos, author of a Turandot noted in 2016 and many times awarded for the excellence of his work. Sung in Italian, surtitled in French and English.

Arabesques: Bab L’Bluz, “Nayda”

Concert. Armed with their electric guembris, Bab L’Bluz resonates a mixture of Gnawa trance rhythms, Hassani chants from southern Morocco and Chaâbi polyrhythms, thus propelling their music into the magnetic fields of psychedelic rock and the volutes of incense. Led by a Doukkalia woman, the group aims to be the bearer of a revolution in attitude, part of the Moroccan youth movement “Nayda”.
