George Miller, famous for Mad Max, also signed this penguin saga which, despite its initial success, did not have a third installment, leaving fans waiting.

Two sagas at opposite ends of the spectrum

If you think of George Miller, you probably think of Mad Max, and that would be quite normal. The saga, with its first film that became a cult classic, introduced the character of Max Rockatansky into a post-apocalyptic world where the law of the strongest reigns. The success of the series peaked with Mad Max: Fury Road in 2015a visual and cinematic masterpiece that revitalized the franchise with Tom Hardy as Max and Charlize Theron like Furiosa.

This installment received critical praise for its fast-paced action sequences and unique visual style. As for his last feature film, Furiosa, centered on the eponymous character, had a bit more trouble making a name for itself at the box office. Its reviews were very mixed, although the performance by Anya Taylor-Joy in the lead role was noticed. However, fortunately this did not affect his career, and he will undoubtedly recover. But did you know that George Miller is not only associated with Mad Max, but also with a completely crazy saga that never had a third installment?

“I would tell you to shoot me.”

Yes, George Miller, it is Mad Max, but it’s also Happy Feet. As they say, two rooms, two atmospheres, because this penguin film is the opposite of Max’s post-apocalyptic adventures. The first film, Happy Feet, was released in 2006 and tells the story of Mumble, an emperor penguin who, instead of singing as is the tradition of his species, expresses his individuality through dance. The film was praised for its advanced animation technology and won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

In 2011, Happy Feet Two continued the adventures of Mumble and his family, introducing new characters and exploring additional themes related to environmental conservation. Although the sequel was less well-received than the first film, it continued to promote messages about nature conservation and the strength of community. However, the penguins’ adventures ended there. No third film was produced.which didn’t stop Miller from making a surprising comment about it at the time.

“If you put a gun to my head and said, ‘You have to come up with a story for Happy Feet 3,’ I would tell you to shoot me ” Miller said in an interview with Collider when the second film came out. At the time, the director of Mad Max had no desire to make a third installment, not because he was tired of it, but because he simply had no idea what to do. “Stories invade you. You have to let them come and insinuate themselves into your head. If they don’t come, they don’t come,” he added. Since then, nothing, and the arrival of‘a Happy Feet 3 remains really uncertain, even if his fans always ask for it. However, Miller never closed the door to this possibility, so who knows…
