“There have never been so many French people listening Inter. 7,180,000 listeners every day, it’s quite simply an absolute record in radio over the last twenty years”greeted Thursday April 18 the director of France InterAdèle Van Reeth, based on figures from Médiamétrie.

Generalist public radio gained 144,000 daily listeners over one year to achieve a cumulative audience of 12.8% (+0.2 points).

Beyond France Interthe CEO of Radio France Sibyle Veil praised the performance of all of the public group’s radio stations: “The French favor media that seek to produce quality, in all areas: on news as well as on culture. Our listeners are sending us the message to continue not to give in to the buzz and caricatures”she said.

In detail about the group’s radio stations, France Blue is progressing (2.775 million listeners, +45,000 in one year), just like France Culture (1.918 million listeners, +245,000 in one year). But, despite the very busy international news, Franceinfo declines with 4.761 million listeners, 165,000 fewer over one year.

Based on the morning show by Nicolas Demorand, Léa Salamé and Sonia Devillers, Inter far ahead of its private competitor RTLwhich brings together 5.375 million listeners, down 233,000 over one year.

Very far behind, at 9e place, Europe 1controlled by the conservative billionaire Vincent Bolloré, who undertook to bring it closer to CNews with co-broadcast programs, continues to recover, experiencing its third consecutive quarterly increase.

Europe 1 benefits from a Praud effect

Radio nibbles 0.4 points to 4.3% audience share. On average, Europe 1 brings together 2.387 million daily listeners (+223,000 over one year). One of the drivers of this growth is Pascal Praud, poached from RTL last summer, on its morning and midday slots.

“For the third time in a row, Europe 1 regains its audience and achieves the strongest growth in the market” in audience share, welcomed Constance Benqué, president of the group Lagardère Newsto which the station belongs. “These very good results confirm the relevance and coherence of our project”she added.
