The 2024 edition of the Nîmes Festival promises to be “exceptional” with 21 dates at the arenas

The 2024 edition of the Nîmes Festival (May 31-July 20) promises to be exceptional in the arenas with, at the opening, the world star Éric Clapton then, on June 12 and 13, two evenings provided by the phenomenon Dua Lupa and in closes the Occitanie duo Big Flo & Oli.

Which suggests a broken attendance record, knowing that last year 175,000 spectators were recorded over as many dates as in 2024. For this 27th edition, more than 120,000 tickets have already been sold. “A priori, more than half of the evenings will be sold out”assures Stéphane Métayer, from Adam concerts, behind this programming “exceptional”underlines Mayor Jean-Paul Fournier.

11,000 seats maximum in the arenas

This is what emerges from the presentation to the press, this Friday March 29, at the Musée de la Romanité, of the poster for this edition signed by the artist Stéphane Muntaner with arenas, placed on clouds, from which come out the spotlights. An amphitheater which this year retains its usual capacity, i.e. 11,000 seats maximum (with the standing pit; 9,000 in seated configuration).

This programming delights Stéphane Métayer, from Adam Production: “It is the result of work carried out since 1997, particularly since 2001, the date of Jean-Paul Fournier’s first mandateindicates Stéphane Métayer. The Nîmes Festival is a recognized brand. Éric Clapton and Dua Lupa will perform in Nîmes, an approach that comes from them. Eric Clapton, we have been in discussions with his representatives for 15 years. It’s something magical to have and we will welcome it with great humility.”

A technical challenge

The Nîmes meeting remains a reference, “the number one festival among the 500 in Occitania, a must”enthuses Julie Delalonde, regional advisor who ensured the full support of Regional President Carole Delga.

Frédéric Pastor, deputy mayor responsible for the festivities, took advantage of the presentation to highlight the work of the municipal and technical teams: “It’s going to be a real challenge to set up the stage in ten days, between the end of the feria and the concert ofERick Clapton. We are lucky to have arenas with this changing modeling. A site recognized among the greatest stages in the world.” And it’s been going on for over 20 years.
