Shared flat for seniors desperately seeks residents

Living together – An intergenerational residence has recently opened its doors in Grenoble. Despite all its advantages, the latter is far from full

The initiative is promising, but Flore Clément-Cuzin is facing a major problem. As reported by our colleagues at France Bleu, her retirement home, located in the city center of Grenoble, has remained empty since it opened its doors. Why is this magnificent house, nestled in the middle of 300 m2 of greenery, not attracting people?

Flore Clément-Cuzin had a dream: to bring together different generations in the same place. She took advantage of a career change to realize this ambitious project. In 2021, after several unsuccessful visits, she fell in love with a huge house whose large weeping willow enthroned in the garden inspired the name of this shared residence: the Laughing Willow.

Currently only one tenant

The place has been completely renovated to accommodate six elderly people and a student. For a monthly rent of between 1,900 and 2,300 euros, tenants each benefit from a studio with a kitchenette and bathroom, as well as several common rooms for socializing. Although the idea is attractive, the project does not yet seem to have found its audience.
