Summer is over – Snow returns from 1,500 meters in the Alps and 1,800 meters in the Pyrenees

You probably noticed it this morning when you got up: temperatures have dropped significantly this week, especially since Wednesday, due to a descent of cold air.

In some regions, particularly in the mountains, this cooling should result in the return of snow today, from 1,500 metres in the Alps and 1,800 metres in the Pyrenees.

“The Jura and Vosges ridges as well as the Auvergne peaks could also experience a first dusting,” Météo-France also reports. “White frost is possible at daybreak from the Massif Central to the northeast,” the meteorological service also reports.

The afternoon will not be more promising, since the maximum temperatures will often stagnate between 5 and 7 degrees below the averages of mid-September. “Levels worthy of the end of October”, notes Météo-France. The maximum will be 17°C in Lyon and Rennes, 15°C in Strasbourg, 24°C in Ajaccio and 16°C in Paris.
