PUY-DE-DÔME – Four days of sick leave and ten days of painful periods will be authorized during the year at the University of Clermont-Auvergne thanks to this experiment

The University of Clermont Auvergne (Puy-de-Dôme) is setting up credits for sick days and for menstrual disorders, according to francebleu.fr. These were introduced at the start of the school year and allow students to benefit from four days of absence during the year for “minor” simple illnesses, and ten days for menstrual disorders.

In order to indicate their absence from a compulsory course, the student will have to enter the reason on an application that will be launched at the end of the month. This principle does not work by presenting a medical certificate but on a simple declaration on honor. This allows students to save time and avoid clogging up medical offices when they have a fever or gastroenteritis for example. The limit of absence is two consecutive days.

Self-management and declaration on honour

Beyond illnesses, this credit system also concerns girls who suffer from painful periods. In this case, they will have to go to school in order to benefit from an appointment at the university health service. Treatment will be put in place if possible.
