Vegetables are essential to a balanced diet. But unfortunately, they often find themselves contaminated with pesticides. Know that salads are no exception. Fortunately, 60 Million consumers revealed the best reference of all.

This type of salad is better for your health

The magazine 60 Million consumers analyzed 26 ready-to-use salads from supermarkets. This is the case for 13 classic or iceberg lettuces and 13 lamb’s lettuce salads. The experts’ objective was to identify pesticide residues.

And this, including those suspected of being carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction (CMR). The verdict is final. Researchers have discovered 8 molecules suspected of having at least one carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic action for reproduction.

On the other hand, the results show that lamb’s lettuce salads remain overall a little less polluted than lettuces, according to 60 Million consumers. Among the classic and iceberg lettuces, eight were considered “insufficient”. Including four classified as “very insufficient”.

In comparison, salad salads fare better, with only four references pinned. Namely: three for a pesticide content deemed “very insufficient” and one as “insufficient”.

And “on the lamb’s lettuce side, only four references are concerned by suspected CMR molecules”it is also important to note that “all lettuces also contain non-CMR pesticides”specifies 60 Million consumers.

These results suggest that choosing lamb’s lettuce, particularly for regular consumers of ready-made salads, could prove to be a more judicious option. However, opting for organic products is not an absolute guarantee.
