Researchers’ Night 2025

Involved in Researchers’ Night since its creation, ULiège invites you to participate in this event of scientific culture.

Born from an initiative of the European Commission, Researchers’ Night is an activity to explain research, characterized by the desire to reach the general public (family public with children/adolescents) through a specific format (of short interactive animations accessible to all and using demonstration equipment).

The University of Liège has actively participated in Researchers’ Night since its beginnings. This year, it will be held on Friday September 26, 2025 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will be dedicated to the “One Health” concept: thinking about health at the intersection of that of animals, humans and their environment, on a local, national and global scale. (theme to be taken in the broad sense…).

We would like to contact you to invite you to participate in this scientific culture event. This participation can take different forms:

  • An interactive exhibition: Activities (stands, workshops, etc.) in person in the gallery *;
  • Participation in radio round tables;

If you are interested in participating in Researchers’ Night, please complete the interest form before Wednesday September 15, 2025 (contact: [email protected]). Do not hesitate to forward this email or to inform us of anyone wishing to take part in the 2025 edition of Researchers’ Night.

Researchers’ Night is a project led by Réjouisciences and Rise

About Researchers’ Night

The European Commission envisages Researchers’ Night as a direct meeting between Researchers and the general public, in order to raise awareness of research and innovation activities. This event should make it possible to achieve various underlying objectives: public recognition of Researchers and reduction of stereotypes about their profession; general attitude more favorable to the financing of Research; encouraging young people to engage in scientific careers.

Practical information regarding the interactive exhibition

Since 2012, Researchers’ Night has been organized in the Médiacité shopping mall. The public will essentially be made up of onlookers who will have to be “attracted”. This considerably changes the situation of meetings more traditionally organized at the University. Also, we would like to emphasize the importance of showing concrete things (materials, a small experiment), to avoid power point presentations or posters that are too rich in data…

  • Date: Friday September 26, 2025 from 5 to 9 p.m.
  • Location: Médiacité shopping gallery (4020 Liège).
  • Public: general public (those who frequent the Shopping Gallery) – French speakers but also people from Germany, Flanders and the Netherlands.
  • Profile of Researchers: know how to express themselves in simple and concrete terms, want to reach out to the general public (family audiences with children).
  • Target audience: family audience with children – adolescents
  • General theme: Image and scientific research
  • Format: interactive animations lasting a few minutes, accessible to as many people as possible, using demonstration equipment and things to “touch”.
  • Specificity: the Researchers’ stands will be set up in the central aisle of the Gallery. A map will indicate them and a “discovery” circuit will encourage visitors to go and meet them.
  • Logistics (tables, chairs, assembly, promotion, layout of visual supports): taken care of by Réjouisciences, as far as possible ;-).
  • Free parking and snacks offered to Researchers who get involved.
