“It was no longer suitable and no longer had the capacity to accommodate a large quantity of meals such as during blood donation or the traditional steak evening in September entrusted to the primary school cook Hervé Brunet to whom we asked for his advice for the renovation of the premises”, summarizes the assistant Danièle Bernard who is carrying out a project validated by the elected representatives of Montbron in the municipal council on October 24 for an amount of 262,000 euros excluding the DETR subsidy (Provision of equipment for rural areas) representing a little more than 90,000 euros.

“All the old, obsolete equipment in the 60m premises2 has already been evacuated by the city services and we are starting the renovation on November 15,” explains the general director of Montbron services Thomas Paillard.

A kitchen split into two spaces

“The kitchen will be divided into two spaces separated by a partition for cold preparations such as starters and desserts and hot preparations. We are going to install a real 3m cold room2all the partitions will be redone in steel to facilitate cleaning, all electricity will be restored, the floor will be redone and raised several tens of centimeters in order to remove the three access steps to the party room and facilitate passage carts. And finally we break down a partition to install toilets that meet PMR (persons with reduced mobility) standards which will also be accessible from the seniors’ club room,” explains Gaëtan Peronnin. “We will also improve the laundry area by 19m2 with a hooded washer, a battery sink, a more suitable drying rack and storage cupboards for dishes. And for an amount of 41,000 euros, we will install a gas frying pan, two gas burners, an electric oven and electric temperature maintenance. Everything will be new and easily usable by as many people as possible. It will be a professional kitchen that meets the needs of a community and not a simple reheating offer as we saw until now with caterers who did not cook on site,” explains the architect.

Individuals or associations in the Montbron sector who wish to do so will be able to use this brand new tool from 1is May 2025 by reservation.
