Movember: the Jules Bordet Institute launches a campaign dedicated to men’s health

In November, the Jules Bordet Institute, part of the Brussels University Hospital (HUB), is launching a campaign to raise awareness of men’s health, entitled “Bordet puts the package”.

This initiative aims to break the taboos surrounding male cancers, encouraging men to talk openly about their physical and mental health. Indeed, cancers affecting men, particularly those of the prostate, testicle or bladder, remain subjects avoided. But the Institute points out that early diagnosis is crucial: the earlier a cancer is detected, the better the chances of remission.

In Belgium, prostate cancer is the most common and affects more than 12,500 new cases per year. Detection begins from the age of 50, with examinations such as PSA testing and targeted ultrasounds.

The HUB stands out for its advanced techniques, such as targeted transperineal biopsy and high-intensity focused ultrasound treatments. Innovative methods like MRI-Linac also offer more effective radiotherapy treatments with fewer side effects.

The Movember campaign reminds everyone that men’s health is worth talking about and that personalized, tailored care is available. “Together, let’s lift the veil on these diseases and encourage men to take care of their health.”
