4,000 students affected by a vaccination campaign

Three students were hospitalized between September 16 and 20 for “invasive meningococcal infections (IIM, meningitis)”. “They are now out of danger” underlines the regional health agency (ARS) on its website.

Transmission occurs through direct, close and prolonged contact with a sick person or a healthy carrier, the subjects identified as contact – among the relatives and classmates of these three students – had been informed and received preventive antibiotic treatment in in the days that followed, although no new cases have been reported since September 20.

All “Polytech” and “Science and Technology” license students are concerned

Faced with this situation, the ARS Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and the student health service of the University Grenoble-Alpes are organizing a vaccination campaign, the most effective measure to prevent complications in the event of infection. The ARS specifies that “4,000 students are affected by this vaccination campaign: students from Polytech and the Bachelor of Science and Technology Department, all levels combined. Students received a letter with practical instructions for getting vaccinated. They will be able to be vaccinated, without advance payment, either at the student health service, between October 10 and 18, or at a health professional in Saint-Martin-d’Hères and Grenoble.”
