This clinic opens a new chemotherapy unit

After announcing the reopening of its night emergency services in the coming days, Saint-Pierre clinic in Perpignan has formalized the opening of its new Outpatient Chemotherapy Unit (UCA). The Elsan group has unveiled the main features of this new space dedicated to the treatment of cancers and its patients.

A new unit at the Saint-Pierre clinic

“This is an important step,” emphasizes the Elsan group, owner of the Saint-Pierre clinic. Since Monday, September 16, a new Outpatient Chemotherapy Unit (UCA) has opened its doors within the private establishment. It is located at 2e floor of building Ain the immediate vicinity of the Catalan Oncology Center (CCO)and must allow “great fluidity in the patient’s journey”.

Reception and waiting areas, consultation offices, Cytotoxic Reconstitution Unit (URC) for the production of treatments… “The services necessary for chemotherapy treatment are centralized there,” Elsan summarizes in a press release.

This new outpatient unit has 32 places (beds and armchairs). “Spacious, air-conditioned, bright, ergonomic, equipped with televisions, they allow patients to be treated in optimal comfort conditions while respecting their privacy,” promises the group.

15,000 chemo sessions in 2023

This new UCA “is a concrete response to the growing needs of the population basin,” underlines Elsan, who specifies that the Saint-Pierre clinic provided 15,000 chemotherapy sessions in 2023. A figure that has been increasing significantly for several years.

“In order to ensure that the patient is cared for as a whole, consultations with the dietician, social worker and psychologist can be organised, free of charge and by appointment, during the administration of the treatment,” the establishment continues.

The new outpatient chemotherapy unit at the Saint-Pierre clinic will be open Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
