“We must pray that there will not be another epidemic this month”: the flu is wreaking havoc in our hospitals, measures are expected

In nursing homes, the epidemic is decreasing

In nursing and care homes, the flu virus appears to be easing. During the third week, there were 19 cases of flu symptoms per 1,000 residents (compared to 23 the previous week). The number of hospitalizations remained between 2 and 3 per 1,000 residents, a level comparable to the previous week.

The circulation of the coronavirus in the population remains very limited. According to Sciensano, the concentration of the virus in wastewater, the number of new cases and the number of hospitalizations are low.

Regarding respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), Sciensano observes a decrease in hospitalizations and positive laboratory tests, although the latter remain above the epidemic threshold, with high concentrations in wastewater.
