An outbreak of avian flu has been detected in the Bournat theme park, located in Bugue, in Dordogne, reports “ici Périgord” (formerly France-Bleu). Swans, peacocks, quails, chickens, guinea fowl and even turkeys, around 80 birds must be euthanized on Thursday January 23 by specialized services. Bugue Park will also undergo a crawl space, before being cleaned and disinfected.

Park keepers in Le Bugue discovered three dead geese last Sunday. The veterinary services were notified immediately. “We know that we must put an end to the problem as quickly as possible”explains the director of the Bournat park, Laurent Bernat, to “ici Périgord”. “It’s a moral cost, he adds, it’s a fairly heavy protocol, it’s the price that must be paid to prevent contamination of farms.” After analysis, avian flu was confirmed by the veterinary services.

The Périgord Noir park, which recreates daily life in 1900, has been closed to the public for the winter since September 2024, but there remains a farmyard and animals which the keepers take care of all year round.
