However, it seems that associating graying hair and old age is in reality… a preconceived idea. According to an article in the American magazine Newsweek, they appear earlier and earlier among millennials and generation Z. And the reason behind all this could be something other than the simple passage of time, stress or genetics.

Mineral imbalances involved

In a study published in 2021 in the scientific journal Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology, it is indicated that graying of hair can begin in the mid-30s for Caucasians, in the late 30s for Asians and in the mid-30s. quarantine for Africans.

However, Catarina Orr-Evans, an integrative health coach based in Columbus, Ohio, posted a video on TikTok in November 2024, explaining how mineral imbalances could contribute to premature graying in young people – sometimes as early as their 20s.
