Indicators linked to bronchiolitis have been increasing in town and in hospitals for several weeks and the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region entered the epidemic phase last week, indicates the weekly bulletin from Public Health France of November 27.
The flu is also progressing in France with three regions in the north of France at the epidemic stage. With the end-of-year holidays approaching, health authorities are calling for “increased mobilization” to vaccinate “the most vulnerable” against flu and Covid-19.” These vaccines are 100% reimbursed by Health Insurance for these people.
The Beyfortus is now only reimbursed 30%
Concerning protection against bronchiolitis, Beyfortus (Sanofi), a preventive medication which reduces the risk of serious forms, remains 100% reimbursed if infants are vaccinated in hospital. On the other hand, the High Health Authority having estimated that it only provides a moderate medical benefit, Beyfortus is only reimbursed at 30% if the baby is vaccinated in town.
In the event of non-reimbursement by a mutual fund, the remaining liability then amounts to €300. Another preventive treatment against bronchiolitis is available, Abrysvo (Pfizer), administered to pregnant women, which remains fully reimbursed.
