Revitalization of the vaccination campaign against seasonal flu and covid-19 and terms of vaccine orders at the end of the year

According to the latest national bulletin from Public Health of November 27, 2024, all flu surveillance indicators were increasing in towns and hospitals in most age groups during the week of November 18 with three French regions (Ile-de-France, and Hauts-de-France) pre-epidemic. Indicators relating to Covid-19 have been declining for several weeks. Given the winter period, the epidemic dynamics of respiratory viruses is likely to accelerate rapidly in the coming weeks and requires preparation.

The joint vaccination campaign against influenza and Covid-19 began on October 15, 2024 for the people most at risk, health professionals and other populations in contact with vulnerable people (see reminder of targets in the appendix). This campaign aims to protect the most vulnerable people and those at risk of developing serious forms of acute respiratory infections. Anyone wishing to be vaccinated, even if they are not part of the target, can receive an injection against Covid-19.

Less than a month before the end-of-year holidays, and to protect the most vulnerable during this period, the Ministry of Health and Access to Care is therefore calling for the mobilization of all health professionals to recall the importance of vaccination.

Reaffirm the benefit of double vaccination for the most vulnerable

The commitment of all stakeholders in the health system is necessary to protect people at risk and additional awareness-raising actions must be undertaken to revitalize flu and Covid-19 vaccination among the general public.

Health professionals play an essential role in informing patients, offering these vaccinations and reminding people of barrier gestures to protect themselves from respiratory viruses. Also, Healthcare professionals are encouraged to remind your patients of key messages, including:

  • the benefit of vaccination to protect against influenza and covid-19, particularly severe formsits coverage by Health Insurance for people at risk and the existence of a simple route to access this vaccination. Note that vaccination against Covid-19 is free for all;
  • the importance of respecting barrier gestures to limit the transmission of viruses (wearing a mask in the event of symptoms and in busy places with high crowding and in places of care, for people at risk or in the presence of these people; regular ventilation; hand washing).

Furthermore, awareness campaigns by the ministry and its partners continue to be deployed, with the dissemination of messages in the media, on social networks and by sending personalized letters to targeted people. The Health Insurance awareness campaign “Don’t choose, get vaccinated against the flu AND against Covid-19” will be rebroadcast widely in December.

Here you will find a document on the vaccination campaign to display in public reception areas.
