To limit the risks of developing cancer, you should avoid drinking a carcinogenic drink – or in any case, reduce your consumption.
According to the National Cancer Institute (INCa), the number of new cases of cancer in 2023 is estimated at more than 433,000 in France. This year, cases of breast and prostate cancer have exploded. Unfortunately, the risk factors are numerous. The causes can then be age, family history, environment or even certain bad habits, such as tobacco consumption. According to an oncologist, a particular drink is also particularly carcinogenic. We'll tell you which one.
What is the link between diet and cancer?
According to the Cancer Research Foundation, 40% of cancers “would be caused by so-called avoidable risk factors, that is to say linked to our lifestyle and our environment”. Of this percentage, approximately 20% is attributable to nutrition. It is therefore important to remember that, to be healthy, a varied and balanced diet is essential. We must therefore not neglect fruits and vegetables, starchy foods or even fish, while for example limiting the consumption of fatty foods, such as cold meats.
“We know that diet plays a role in obesity and obesity can influence the appearance of cancers for metabolic reasons. All the studies show this”explains Dr Alain Toledano, president of the Rafaël Institute, which is a European center for integrative medicine, supporting patients during and after cancer, at Top Health. He gave his expert advice to our colleagues and revealed the carcinogenic drink that we should avoid drinking.
What is the carcinogenic drink that you should avoid drinking?
Asked by Top HealthDr. Toledano recalled that the consumption of meat and cold meats must be limited. He also revealed the carcinogenic drink that we should avoid drinking: it is alcohol. “There are many stories that debate the health risks and benefits of alcohol consumption. But cancer doctors are unanimous: alcohol has been linked to an increased risk of several diseases, including breast cancer. 'stomach, colorectal, esophagus, liver, pancreas and breast'says the specialist.

Like certain foods, alcohol is an avoidable risk factor for cancer. For example, as the League against Cancer specifies on its site, the risk of breast cancer increases as soon as one consumes less than one drink per day, while for that of liver cancer, the risk appears from consumption of more than four glasses per day.
