The leading cause of cancer in men, prostate cancer affects 60,000 people in France each year. To raise awareness of the importance of screening, the Pasteur clinic, Toulouseis organizing three days of activities, starting this Tuesday, November 26, 2024.
A giant prostate with doctors’ explanations
With, as a highlight, the installation of a giant prostateto be discovered on Tuesday November 26, 2024 between the Sans pavilion and the island pavilion. An XXL size prostate whose interior we can visit following the doctors’ explanations.
Prostate cancer occurs mainly in older men. He is keenly recommended to be screened from the age of 50. Or even before for people at risk, such as those with a family history of prostate cancer. Early diagnosis helps reduce mortality.
Prostate in virtual reality
Hence the importance of these operations dedicated to the general public, in order to raise awareness of the functioning of this gland which is part of the male reproductive system.
Still with this in mind, the Pasteur clinic is also offering a stand on Thursday, November 28, where you can discover the prostate via a virtual reality headset.
And as the month of November is the month of all male cancers, the clinic also offers workshops with broader themes: diet and physical activity in disease prevention (Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.); stand anatomopathology (Wednesday November 27) to find out more about cancer screening or even a quiz on Thursday November 28.
A study published last August in the journal Cancer of the American Cancer Society reports that cases of cancer in men are expected to increase by 84% by 2050, due in particular to the aging of the population.
