This week of November 18, Île-de-France moved into a pre-epidemic flu phase. It is the first French metropolitan region to pass this milestone for the season.
As winter sets in, the flu gains ground. This week, Île-de-France moved into the pre-epidemic phase, Public Health France announced. It is the first region of mainland France to have passed this stage for the season.
All indicators remain at their baseline level in the rest of the regions, although Public Health France notes a “slight increase”. The flu had already reached Reunion, which is now in post-epidemic.
Since October 21, Île-de-France has also been in an epidemic phase of bronchiolitis just like Hauts-de-France in mainland France.
The vaccination campaign still underway
The vaccination campaign against influenza and Covid-19 began on Tuesday October 15. It extends until January 31.
The High Health Authority particularly targets “people at risk of serious illness”. This includes people aged 65 and over, infants aged 6 months and over, and people with comorbidities who have a higher risk of a serious form of the disease.
According to Health Insurance, immunocompromised people, pregnant women, nursing home residents and their relatives are also affected.
