In an equestrian center in Ossun, children’s voices echo between the ponies’ and horses’ boxes. A hundred children from the Massabielle school had the chance to spend four mornings at the Écuries de Pheline equestrian center in Ossun. For the third year, the children were able to go “to discover horses and ponies” explains Marie-Claude, one of the teachers. On site, children in kindergarten, from the smallest to the large section had the opportunity to try out a bunch of activities and workshops: vaulting, cleaning horses, visiting the boxes, painting horseshoes, driving horses… To the children’s great delight, they were able to take a little pony ride, guiding in groups of two, and do little tricks in vaulting. “They love this kind of activity, and then some can’t go horse riding, and this is an adapted center” emphasizes Marie-Claude. In the mornings, the teachers – Marie-Claude, Cécile, Marie-Noëlle and Lola – were helped by the team from the equestrian center, who were able to pass on their passion to the children. An activity partly funded by Simaje, and the parents’ association, with also a small contribution from the parents. A great day, where the children were even able to have fun imitating horses, and opening up to new horizons at the end of the school year.
