In more than a month, it’s the Christmas holidays, this real time of family reunion. Could Covid-19 spoil the party? No, Public Health France responds in substance in its weekly update on the circulation of the virus, published Wednesday November 13, 2024.
“Activity linked to acute respiratory infections was generally stable in
city medicine and to the hospital all ages,” indicates the National Public Health Agency. The trend is therefore towards stabilization.
In town, slight increases
Last week, in community medicine, from November 6 to 13, 2024, the incidence rate of Covid-19 cases was estimated at 25 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. A slight increase compared to the week before, far from the active circulation of the virus.
For SOS Médecins acts, 93 were recorded among those aged 65 and over. This is 1% of total acts in this age group compared to 1.6% the week before. Among those aged 15 – 64, the number of medical procedures for suspicion was 563, or 1.1% compared to 1.3% the week before.
Among the youngest, there too, no significant change. Among people aged 5 – 14, this number was 49, or 0.5%, it was 0.3% before. Among 0 – 4 year olds, 17 acts for suspected Covid-19 were recorded, or 0.1% of medical procedures in this age group compared to 0.2% the week before.
In a hospital environment
Between November 6 and 13, 2024, 10,088 visits to the emergency room for lower acute respiratory infections (ARI) were recorded, i.e. 3% of all passages of all ages. It was 3.2% the week before.
For hospitalizations, the figure was 4 233or 6.3% of all hospitalizations of all ages, it was 7% the week before. For emergencies, the number of visits to the emergency room for suspected coronavirus was 823down slightly compared to the week before.
On the other hand, Covid-19 still kills. The virus was mentioned in 2.5% of the week’s 5,941 deaths.
