She thought she knew every aspect of her body and her health. However, in August 2022, she will start to experience mild symptomsexplain The Mirror. The gynecologist has no idea what these different discomforts are hiding.

Some time later, when her symptoms had not disappeared, Lauren decided to consult a doctor. A thorough examination will reveal the presence of a worrying mass. Thinking carefully, the gynecologist suddenly realizes that other symptoms should have alerted her.

Colon cancer: what are the signs to be aware of?

Lauren started by feeling significant fatigue and pelvic pain, two symptoms that should have alerted her. In her testimony, she remembered this unexpected fatigue she felt in the afternoonat a time when she was rather used to being in good shape. But in her eyes, this fatigue was more the consequence of her work and the fact that she was the mother of two young children. Ultimately, it was just a sign of a daily life that was perhaps too busy.

The pelvic pain, on the other hand, quickly worried him.
Lauren explained that she felt like a “weight” on this part of her body. And because of his job, it was this symptom that worried him the most. It was after several consultations and a thorough examination that the doctors discovered a worrying mass on one of her ovaries.

A late diagnosis, but good news

The mass will quickly grow, going from 8 to 24 cm in just a few weeks. Faced with this situation, the doctors quickly decided to operate on Lauren. During the intervention, they will discover that the cancer has spread to several organsthus worsening the initial diagnosis. From a simple worrying mass, Lauren is diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer, a stage where the chances of cure are lower.

However, the gynecologist is not going to give in and start intensive chemotherapy while continuing to work. At that moment, she had only one goal: even in a difficult situation, life must continue. Last April, after months of treatment, the doctors gave him good news: his latest tests showed no no more signs of the disease.
