VIDEO – “We have to go for it, keep hope and morale”: after brain cancer, Marion commits to research

Meeting at the town hall of Souillac in the Lot. Marion introduces herself and, above all, explains her commitment. “I got sick at 18. From there, a year of treatment, which ends with an operation which leaves me with a physical and visual handicap.

Touched by her testimony and her energy, the municipal team decided to support her project to raise funds for research into brain tumors, scheduled for spring 2025. Marion managed to beat this disease for the first time, at the cost of a year of heavy treatment and an operation which left him with after-effects. But ten years later, when she returns to a normal life, it’s a shock; the cancerous tumor reappears.

Recidivism: a new challenge to face

I am told that I can no longer have chemo or radiation, that they can no longer operate on me either. But then, how am I treated? What is the option? Because if I did all that, only to end up not getting through it today! And that’s when I’m told about the research that’s progressing and new treatments that are currently possible.

“The outlook on life changes, so life tastes different”

She was therefore directed towards targeted, effective therapy. So for several months, she has represented the association in Lot that helped her. “There are people for whom we unfortunately have no solution. Yes, it can be scary when people talk to us about treatment, when we talk about a favorable outcome, we have to go for it. You have to go for it, keep hope, above all keep your morale up, and have the strength. If it hadn’t been for this treatment, I don’t know how I would have coped. The outlook on life changes, so life tastes different ” assures Marion. This strength, her commitment is found in his testimony book and in its actions in favor of research against this disease.
