His condition deteriorated quickly

The little girl goes to the nurse’s office but she is not there. Another member of the school called Emerson’s mother and asked if she could give him Benadryl, a type of antihistamine. But the 11-year-old vomited the medicine and his condition deteriorated very quickly. She then received respiratory treatment.

When the girl’s grandmother arrived at school, the child had fainted. Worried, she performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation until emergency services arrived, who transported her to hospital.

“I will never stop loving you”

The little girl died two days later in hospital. “Emerson Kate Cole, I will never stop loving you”wrote his father after his death, cited by The Independent.

Lawsuit

The family recently filed a lawsuit against the school seeking an unspecified amount of money, claiming that the proper relief protocol in such situations had not been put in place.

“If she had been given epinephrine promptly when she first started showing symptoms, Emerson would, more likely than not, be with us today.”noted a doctor.
