Lucie*, a 31-year-old from Island, suffers from PCOS syndrome. This disease causes ovulation disorders often associated with infertility. She testifies.

Lucie* suffers from PCOS, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, she was officially diagnosed 4 years ago.

She started having one of the symptoms, that of irregular menstrual cycle disorder, at the age of 18. “I had done tests to see and understand where this problem was coming from, but at the time my doctor made me understand that having polycystic ovaries was not alarming because I could have children more late. So I didn’t worry.”

The years pass. 4 years ago, Lucie met her partner, they planned to have a child, unfortunately it was impossible, because of this syndrome. It is from there that the young woman decides to change her treating doctor, who switches her to a specialized gynecologist. “That’s how it became official, because he explained to me that I had PCOS, and that’s why I was having trouble having a child. He told me said that my journey would be to lose weight, to eat healthily.

The young woman is currently awaiting in vitro fertilization (IVF) later, or a medically assisted procreation (MAP) course. “I wanted to share this experience because around me I have many people who have it, but they don’t know how to do it because many doctors in Reunion don’t know what to say to women. There is many women who suffer from this syndrome, we must not stay with a single diagnosis, we must understand what we have. It is not easy to have a child with this.
