Smoking still remains the leading cause of avoidable mortality in France, with more than 75,000 deaths each year. This Friday, World No Tobacco Day can be an opportunity to give up cigarettes. But if smoking has a cost, stop too: the prices of the solutions offered are high.

For five years, nicotine substitutes have been reimbursed by Health Insurance at 65%. You don’t even have no need to advance these costs in pharmacy. The annual ceiling, of 150 euros per year, has also been removed. There are substitutes in the form of patches for which the nicotine is released gradually, and in oral form (gums, lozenges, tablets or oral sprays) for which the nicotine is released quickly. The use of nicotine substitutes during pregnancy is possible.

This coverage by Health Insurance is subject to two conditions: these nicotine substitutes must be under prescription, and only certain products are affected. The list can be consulted via the Health Insurance website, by clicking on this link.

You will then be left with a little more than a third of the price to pay. This amount is covered by many mutual insurance companies, and some also partially reimburse hypnosis and other alternative medicines, such as acupuncture. To benefit from support, you can contact 39 89 by phonealso available on the Tabac Info Service mobile application and on website.
