Unlike tension headaches, headaches linked to migraines (episodic or chronic) are particularly debilitating and seriously affect the daily lives of those who suffer from them. Their symptoms are also particular: throbbing pain (the feeling that the heart is beating in the head) can be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, intolerance to noise and light or worsening of pain during physical activity. Without effective painkillers, the duration of a migraine attack varies between 4 hours and 72 hours, sometimes several times a week. Around 15% of the population is subject to it, up to 25% of women between 30 and 50 years old. There are 3 women with migraines for every man. Chronic migraines (at least 15 days of headaches per month including at least 8 days of migraine itself) constitute 10% of all migraines.
