Evicted from land in Cascavelle: Adults and babies piled on mattresses at the community center
-Babies have been sleeping on mattresses for several days
Sixteen people, from four squatter families, are currently housed at the Cascavelle community center. They have been there since their eviction from land belonging to the Medine group in Cascavelle on April 23, after the company obtained an eviction order from the court. Their main concern now is to know how long they will have to live together in this center.

Illegal dumping of garbage has been noted very often recently on abandoned land on rue des Oursins and on paths around Baie-du-Tombeau, very close to the premises of the La Sentinelle group. These cases of illegal dumping were reported to the authorities: the Pamplemousses district council and the environmental police.

“ASE Mor,ASE New Infeksion, ASE Diskriminasion.” This cry expressing anger, indignation, exasperation and sorrow will be launched on Sunday, May 19 from 6:30 p.m. at the Marie-Reine-de-la-Paix social center, in the capital, during a gathering open to the public organized by several non-governmental organizations. This initiative comes as part of the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial, a day when, across the world, candles will be lit to pay tribute to people who have died from causes linked to HIV. This year’s theme is: “Together we remember, together we heal, Through love and solidarity.”
