This is a unique and free operation. This Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., nearly 70 women were received at the Quercy clinic for a day of cardiovascular screening. The operation was carried out as part of Pink October by the Professional Health Territory Community South Lot (CPTS South Lot). “70 women during the day, that’s one patient every two minutes,” explains Joseph Pucek, the coordinator of this network, who is delighted with the success of the operation. This women’s heart day in the Lot, a variation of the national event, targets an audience of women without a GP. “Thanks to organizations such as the Primary Health Insurance Fund and the Mutualité sociale agricole we were able to relay this screening to patients without a GP,” the coordinator further emphasizes.

Every day, in , 200 women die from cardiovascular disease. And yet, according to health professionals, 8 out of 10 cardiovascular accidents are preventable. Hence the challenge of this day. General practitioners, midwives, a cardiologist, nurses and nutritionists agreed to receive the participants on a course with several stages. First the forms to fill out on consumption habits, lifestyle, sporting activity, etc. Then the blood and urine tests carried out by nurses to establish cholesterol, blood sugar and white blood cell levels. Finally, an interview with a midwife to rule out gynecological risks then, with a treating doctor for the summary and to refer, if necessary for further investigation, the patient to a specialist. The doctor could thus prescribe a prescription to carry out an electrocardiogram.
