Mayotte affected by cholera and dengue fever

Mayotte affected by cholera and dengue fever
Descriptive text here

The ARS has worked hard to fight against cholera which is present in the territory but also dengue which has made a comeback

Since April 5, 2024, La Petite Terre has experienced a strong circulation of the dengue virus.

And to limit the extent of the disease, the Mayotte Regional Health Agency carries out insecticide treatments on Pamandzi between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. and travels through the neighborhoods spraying its product wherever it seems necessary.

The ARS recalls that measures to combat dengue fever must be maintained to further weaken viral transmission. Health recommendations must be scrupulously applied by everyone

The most effective ways to protect yourself from mosquito bites are:

  • to apply of the repellents skin and use mosquito nets for babies and bedridden people. The mosquito carrying dengue is active during the day and mainly during Morning and the evening.

Mosquitoes multiply by laying their eggs in containers and objects containing water. To combat the proliferation of mosquitoes, you must:

  • remove these larval breeding sites,
  • or empty them every week.

The symptoms that should lead you to consult your doctor are:

  • a high fever
  • a feeling of great fatigue.
  • muscle and/or joint pain
  • headaches

Recommendations available on the ARS website.
