Tour technologies at the service of amateurs

Fitting is becoming simpler and simpler and can bring big benefits to all golfers, or at least allow them to save shots at a lower cost. We took advantage of a snowy day to meet John Lawson, and ask him to explain how.

Why make Golf even more difficult?

The goal of fitting is to match the clubs and the player: his morphology, his physical abilities, his swing, his level and his objectives. Analysis tools and in-depth knowledge of how they work have become mandatory

During a typical session, John Lawson goes further in morphological measurements and completes them with other, dynamic ones, carried out using a state-of-the-art launch monitor and Gearsa comprehensive 3D swing and body analysis system used by golf players PGA Tourfitters and club makers. “Analysis tools and in-depth knowledge of how they work have become mandatory to be sure of the effectiveness of head, shaft and grip combinations”affirms the one who is involved in the training of future teachers in Golf National.

At the forefront of adaptation

John Lawson goes even further, to better satisfy tailor-made purists. Those who distinguish between « custom built »these slightly adapted “factory” clubs, and the « custom fit » worthy of the name, that is to say clubs manufactured by a « clubmaker » professional. John Lawson uses another expensive tool that has proven itself on the professional circuits – a SAM PuttLab (dedicated analyzer) – in order to offer fittings de putters of different brands.
